Accomplished Entrepreneurs Don't Ask How

I'd like to suggest that you can learn a hugely important lesson about your own life by recognizing a key truth about the most successful entrepreneurs.

Name me an entrepreneur who begins his or her startup journey by asking "how will we do this?" and the odds are overwhelming that no one has ever heard of that person.

No, successful entrepreneurs start with a big goal that seems impossible. They ignore limitations, at least for a while.

Airbnb started as a way to rent out space during a conference when hotels were full. It grew to a market cap of over $74 billion.

WhatsApp was a simple way to indicate availability for calls. It eventually became a business worth $5.5 billion.

Netflix was a DVD-by-mail rental service that became one of the largest producers of original content.

I've worked with hundreds of individuals, asking them to dream big about their future: not just their career, but the totality of their life. Time after time, I see one word stop them in their tracks.

How.

"How" is a suffocating word that's been holding your dreams hostage.

Most people don't even allow themselves to dream big, because they are scared to even think an optimistic thought without being able to explain to themselves how they could achieve it.

In short, they are doing the exact opposite of what the best dreamers on the planet do.

How is the enemy of dreaming big.

How will stop you from having a life that is better than you ever imagined.

How will push you towards mediocrity and complacency.

When you are brainstorming about what's possible in your life, banish the word "how" from your vocabulary. It's the single best way to unlock your potential.
